Personally I think that d-partner (Gio vs. others) and coaching style (Hartley's style magnified his strengths) are the bigger reasons for his change in quality of play but just wondering if he's ever said he prefers the right side.

And a follow up - if he's said he prefers the RH side to management then I blame Treliving more than GG for his utilization. He went and added Stone, Hamilton, Hamonic, plus we had Andersson and Fox in the system. Really there is no chance for Brodie to play his RH side because that would have screwed up the position for the rest of the players that GG has on the roster.

IMO that would make that Hamonic acquisition even worse...because if Brodie told Treliving he prefered the RH side then the focus really should have been a LH d-man to pair with him or Hamilton.
At best he said he preferred it or was most used to it over his career, but even that was back when he played on the right. He may have said there were adjustments to be made once he switched. But he hasn't said it's any kind of a reason for any poor play, or a drop in production.

IMO, his best asset in his big year was his skating, not the occasional great backhand pass he would make. The last couple years he's looked slower to me. He's been beaten in footraces with forwards back to his own zone, which didn't use to happen - he could make up ground on the backcheck.
