If the odds were as good as a coin flip, maybe. But you don't make an even money bet on a long shot.
The Oilers overpaid for Klefbom, thinking it was a coin worth flipping because they were mediocre. But it wasn't, and now they have yet another mediocre defenceman and no Taylor Hall. There are far worse things than mediocrity.
