My grandmother watched her best friend get literally chopped in half by Nazis. The following day or so, my grandparents (with my mom when she was a kid) and a group of their friends hid during the day and quietly hiked from Bucharest to Bulgaria - those that weren't strong enough for the trip stayed behind. The weather was not good and they didn't step foot on a road or anything. My grandfather got caught and they were able to bribe him out - they were very lucky. This group eventually wound up in either Israel/Palestine/Jordan or France or Italy. There were very few places (if any) they were welcomed or safe.

The group that escaped years later made it to Canada, although a pair returned to France, where I still have family. Their entire lives were of course upended, but most people they knew were either killed or they would never see them again. In about 1990, my family got a call from some group out of Russia regarding a family member trying to find his family. He was a cousin that was orphaned or something that somehow was taken by Russian soldiers back to Russia. I met him, but never got a chance with so many others.

That group that escaped have their photos in my house, they helped raise me.

Calling anyone you disagree with a Nazi is a slap in the face to those that suffered from actual Nazis. It shows a serious lack of understanding and probably demonstrates low intellect.
