Rene Bourque was streaky.
Ferland was given top line minutes and had 2 good streaks - one with 8 points in 6 and one with 8 points in 4. Otherwise, largely invisible.
He bought good will with a playoff performance a few years ago that never was revived. I don’t blame him, it’s tough if not impossible to be the player that he was in the Vancouver series.
But Rene Bourque is definitely not a bad comparison. Where they differ is that Bourque took some lazy penalties and Ferly just disappears. Production is similar. 20 goal ish streaky guys who you can not count on every night.
Bennett, by contrast, was given third line minutes and saddled with Garnet ‘fans like me perhaps because the commentators say I have a non stop motor but actually plays die on my stick’ Hathaway.
You can replace the name in the sentence all you want but the situation is not the same.
