This is a interesting read. Two part story on Edmonton’s Omniplex from the late 60’s. Inspired by Houston’s new Astrodome, Edmonton almost built a hybrid hockey / football stadium that nearly got voted in a plebiscite.

Wonder how that would have changed the sporting landscape in Edmonton. I think they dodged a bullet.
Regardless, seems like the debate of building stadiums has always been a controversial topic.
