Uhh... Ferland has you know:
- had an impact at the NHL level both physically and on the score sheet
- scored 20 goals, 15 the year prior with his nhl caliber snap shot
- earned his way up the line-up from the 3rd line in the AHL (not with Gaudreau)
- has shown he can produce with top players, but contribute physically if not
- had a noticeable impact on NHL playoff series win (not with Gaudreau)
- had an arguably better junior career, in one less season


Lazar has done none of those things, other than being drafted higher. All while Ferland didn't start playing hockey until 14 and lost a year and a bit of development to alcoholism.

Lazar has had ample opportunity on two different NHL teams due to his high draft status and great personality, and done absolutely nothing with it. Ferland has earned his place through adversity.

Your opinion is valid and you have a right to it, but it's not based on evidence.
