There does seem to be a consensus that the "give a crap" meter, or "heart" quotient needs improving on the Flames.
That has to be a new phenomenon. Treliving had his reasons for hiring Gulutzan and I don't want to rehash that here, but it's undeniable that he was never considered a motivational or hard type coach. He was hired because of his smarts, his approach to systems etc. It's unfortunate really that this team seems to need a different type of coach.
For all the crap Kris Russell takes on this board, maybe the team misses a guy like that more than you'd think. I can think of a few talented players that should have an uncomfortable sit down with the GM at the end of the year.
