I don't get the thing about a former player who did well in the playoffs being a good coach or knowing what it takes to be there. The guy would know what it takes to be there as a player so unless he's playing he's useless. Lots of guys have been to the playoffs as a player and lots of guys have scored big goals in their lives, that doesn't mean they have what it takes to be a good coach.
Mike Babcock only played university hockey, WHL and some hockey in the UK...what the heck does he know about winning in the NHL when he couldn't even make the canucks?!
Gelinas was a good player and I"m sure he's an amazing guy but he's shown that he isn't a good coach...at least not for this team. If they keep him in the organization in some other capacity that's fine but he clearly shouldn't be coaching. It's just not working out.
