I've always wondered about face-off wins and getting thrown out of the face-off dot. If you get thrown out, that doesn't count against your face-off percentage, correct? So I wonder if they guys that are "good face-off guys" get thrown out more often and are not actually as good as we think.
I guess my thought process is:
1) Guys try to take advantage in the dot and sometimes get thrown out
2) If they get thrown out, there percentage isn't hurt, but greatly reduces the chances of their team winning the draw
3) If they don't get thrown out, they have the edge and win more face-offs than usual, inflating their percentage
Maybe this should be in the random thought thread...
