McLellan coached his Sharks teams to a couple of Presidents Trophies so I would say he's a better than average head coach which is proven by the fact he coached an Oilers team to 103 points as even average head coaches don't take two different teams to over 100 points especially one being the Oilers. He didn't get the results in the playoffs but we have seen other good head coaches like Trotz and Boudreau struggle to get their teams over the hump in the playoffs. That Oilers situation can't be easy for any coach as the players in that market get treated like gods and there's so many moving parts in their building with all the ex-Oilers hanging around. Nothing good comes out of having all those cooks in the kitchen. I'm not saying I would want McLellan to be the replacement for Gulutzan but the Flames could do a lot worse and have when it comes to coach hires.
