Islanders allow the most shots against per game in the league at 35.7 and have by far the league worst GAA at 3.53.
Flames get the 8th most shots on goal per game in the league at 33.3 (that doesn't include all the missed shots and posts they hit...which is a lot)
Chris Gibson is the goalie for the Isles tonight. He's playing in just his 7th game and 5th start of his NHL career. He's a veteran of the AHL currently in his 6th season. His career numbers aren't anything special, but in 2 starts this year he has a GAA of 1.86 and a Sv% of .953
That's the key tonight for me. Is this a hot streak for Gibson that will continue tonight, or will he look like the AHL vet that he is? Will the Flames expose his weaknesses or shoot pucks into his crest, making him look like a star?
One hopes that the Flames seize the opportunity to pounce on a flailing Islanders team tonight. Early start at home on a Sunday...let's hope the crowd is into this one to give the boys an edge. I know I'll hear calgaryboy screaming his head off at least...
