What I hate about Gulutzan even more than some idiotic decisions at times is the stubbornness with which he sticks to his guns. I have zero doubt that a lot of the coaches who have their team entrenched in a playoff spot have done some idiotic things throughout the year... but they adapted their plan in response to results sooner rather than later. That doesn't mean being results-oriented, it means being adaptable.
Gulutzan's process oriented to a fault. He can't spark a team because he doesn't think they need to be sparked. He can't spark a line because he doesn't think they need to be sparked. He can't spark a D-Pair because he doesn't think they need to be sparked. He can't spark a power play because he doesn't think it needs to be sparked. Rinse and repeat, all year long. Well what you've got is no spark and with no spark you have no Flames.
