It is so frustrating because the Gaudreau and Monny contracts are such value. But that, with Smith and Gio, is it really.
I still think there is enough cap flexibility and good contracts here to improve big time this offseason. But this year is a write off.

I understand why he didn't do it, I guess. But if Treliving was truly playing a long game, I wish he could have found a way to move a defenseman at the deadline with the way teams were spending. Whatever assets he could have acquired would come in handy over the summer.
