It makes the NHL a marginal sports league. If NBA refs weren't literally gambling on the outcome of games, I'd say the NHL is clearly the worst officiated sport in the world outside of sideshows like figure skating and the like.

Its not just hockey, its getting tough in every sport, not just because the refs take abuse from players at a minor level, but from coaches, and parents and even the leagues that they work for.
At some point the expectations in minor leagues have become that everyone's life is at stake.
Its kinda getting tiring.
