This whole day has reached a level of absurdity not matched by many others....but that's why it makes it fun.
So much speculation by every single fan base, broadcaster, blogger etc. It becomes hard to separate legitimate and reasoned scenarios from video game trades.
My favorite deadline day story was about 10 years ago or so. Burke was still in Toronto, and of course TSN was all over whatever it was they were about to do/doing.
There was a segment where the panel was sitting and talking about the Leafs with a fixed camera trained on the Leafs brass in the war room.
So Burke and his management team and the coaching staff (Carlyle IIRC) and assistants and whomever are all sitting around this giant conference table and looking at the big screen TV on the wall.
What was being shown? Them, sitting at that table watching TSN. So we had the TSN crew talking about the Leafs brass who were sitting and watching the TSN crew sitting and talking about them.
It was then i realized how truly absurd this day and its coverage had become. Many a laugh over that one.
As for the Flames today, I have no reasoning to say this beyond "just a feeling", but I believe that BT is somewhat fed up/concerned with a few guys on this team and has been working actual hockey deals more than worrying about "selling" or buying" players. We could see a major deal out of him today and one that will have the fanbase completely polarized over it.
Could be a lot of fun the next few days watching the analysis of it all.
