Given the facts I feel like a lot of the names being thrown around don't make a lot of sense:
- ROR: we just re-signed Backlund to a long term deal signifying he should be our 2nd/3rd line center for at least the next 3 years. Jankowski is young and has put up 11 goals as a rookie and there are still 19 games to go. ROR also has a massive cap hit, if we want to keep cap space to re-sign Tkachuk, Ferland etc. then this doesn't make much sense unless significant salary goes the other way.
- Okposo: cap hit and term for a soon to be 30 year old player doesn't fit unless, like above, a player like Brouwer goes the other way.
- Kane: I agree we shouldn't judge players entirely on their past as they may have matured and grown over the years. However, given the Flames strongly valuing character and players that give back to the community I don't know I see a fit here, even if he has matured.
- Reinhart: this is the one name that makes a lot of sense to me, we need younger RHed players that can take draws and play in the top 9. He fits the bill.
I would love to add a guy like ROR but he wouldn't come cheap and doesn't really fit a huge need outside of an outstanding FO%.
