If legislation is properly crafted it doesn't need to be changed. Read the laws. They are fine. What is needed is a push from Congress to get law enforcement to do their job and enforce the laws already on the books. The problem is that the NRA has such a grip on the balls of Congress, and such support from law enforcement, that little is done in enforcing the laws as they are written. Also, states rights has a big part in the weak enforcement of gun laws. When one state has very restrictive laws, and the one right next door is the wild west, it is crazy to suggest that some equilibrium in the system can be attained in Washington. Change has to start at the state level, and that is unlikely to happen. Republicans own too many state governments and gun control measures are not on their agenda. In fact, it is the opposite. Look for a loosening of gun ownership, carry restrictions, and transportation restrictions in the very near future. My CCW is honored in 37 states, and there is a push to make that number 50. It should quietly be pushed through Congress sometime this session.
