So what happens if we bring in any other Defenseman and he doesn’t have any chemistry with his partner and/or can’t adjust to the team’s system? What’s the likelihood that we make the playoffs then? Unlikely. Every move has a risk attached to it and moving such a crucial position right now would screw a lot of things up.
It would make more sense to trade Brodie in the offseason. Even then I doubt it because there’s a very obvious succession plan in place with Valimaki who will likely need at least 1 year in the minors.
