This doesn't really make any sense from an organizational standpoint. I mean you can lament the loss of this year's first and believe that you'd rather have it than Travis Hamonic, sure.
But now that it's done to replace it during a run for a playoff spot would take a player equal to or greater in value than Hamonic. Who were you thinking you wanted to give up?
EDIT: There's probably what, eight players that could return a first in our line-up - Gaudreau, Monahan, Ferland, Tkachuk, Backlund, Hamilton, Giordano and Hamonic. Would you seriously give up a first round trade worthy player at this point in the rebuild?? That seems absolutely insane to me.
