It’s a gimmick in the sense that to a serious shooter they don’t provide any legitimate improvement to the firearm, and they only buy them because it’s a bit of fun to spray a ton of bullets in a couple of seconds. A hunter or target shooter wouldn’t use one because they hurt accuracy too much.
The only person who has a real use for a bump stock is a murderer who wants to put as many rounds as possible into a large group of people. The fact that there was any resistance to having them banned just shows you how broken the gun culture is in America. They won’t even give up a pointless toy to save future massacres from happening.
