At the end of the day, with how few assets we have. All and any creative ideas that can improve the team should be explored.

That's fair, I just took your comments to mean Hoffman wasn't of interest regardless which seemed bizarre on on such a limited sample size.
While ridding Brouwer's contract might make it palatable, I see no reason why Troy would waive to go to the tire fire that is Ottawa.
