Um, you are planning on melting it in place? Isn't that just pushing the problem from spring, to now?

Where I am coming at is, I have had serious problems with flooding in my basement storage room. These problems have been in the spring, during melt and rains, yeah - but also during chinooks after big snowfalls. Sounds to me like if you are melting the snow around your house, all you are doing is either turning it into ice, or creating a flooding problem in the now, rather than in the future.

Just keep that in mind, and good luck!
