Well, since 4 out of 6 of those players were not top picks, you need to either accept that players may get it over time, develop their skills, grow their game, etc. Therefore, making snap judgements a very poor way to evaluate. Or I suppose the other option is that you are the brightest GD hockey mind to ever walk the earth and could be the GM and president of any team if only they were able to pay you enough to pry you away from the think tank for hockey savantism.
