To be honest, I can't get the images that it creates out of my head. The whole band and disc has an air of history and importance around it (perhaps largely due to the name they have taken on as well as what they chosen to call the disc). The Crane Wife is a hauntingly sad Japanese tale, and I think it was a great choice.

I can't get over how much I like this sound - it feels like something special.

Kermit, I know that you and Rockstar in another thread mentioned the new Muse album...

What are your thoughts? Overall, it feels like a great piece of work, but like with all Muse albums, though while they are brilliant there always seems to be a few rough patches where you wonder about the choices they made.

Great disc though, I have listened through it more than a handful of times.
I call The Decemberists music for English majors.. My mom is a PhD in English and I gave her A Maritime Revenge Song and she'll listen to it for about 3 hours at a time.. just THAT song, maybe Eli The Barrow Boy every once in a while. The stories that they paint with the songs are just incredible though.

As for Muse. It's good. I think it's about on par with Absolution, which is good because it's a good album, not great but good. I love listening to Knights of Cydonia though. That was the first song I heard off of Black Holes and Revalations, and I really liked how it totally rocked at the end.

Favourite Muse song is their cover of Feeling Good though.. It just sounds amazing. I heard a mixed version of it on Saturday that incorporated the original and the Muse version and it was amazing!
