I don't think that Versteeg coming back is going to automatically fix the PP. I think there are some obvious (to me, and to many others on this forum) that the coaches should be trying out that I think would probably have a better chance of success than just plopping a player that hasn't played in a half season.

With that being said...

I thought Versteeg was one of the best forwards for the Flames last year in the playoffs. He showed a tremendous amount of grit and leadership. He was an absolute warrior out there every shift, and he earned my respect that playoff series. Yes, Captain fricken Obvious will tell you that the Flames got swept, but it was not because Versteeg didn't do his job. He went far above and beyond expectations. There are a handful of other players (*cough... Elliott.. cough*) that were more directly responsible for the sweep.

I, for one, am really happy that Versteeg will get back a bit early, and he should be able to get 100% back in game shape and ready for the playoffs. He will be needed out there if the Flames have any aspirations of making a run. I thought his effort level helped pull-up a few other Flames with him. That stuff rubs-off on a team.
