Thanks for the responses. I've tried formatting it in multiple ways. Fat32, NTFS. All the same.

But I think it comes down to a questionable quality SD card reader. As DoubleF said, it often cuts in and out. Sometimes throws me the error code. About 10% of the time it actually works.

I guess I'll splurge and get brand name reader. Deep down in my heart I figured that was the issue. I cheaped out on the card reader when Amazon had a sale.
