Not certain enough I guess but honestly ~ he's 32 now, running out of opportunity and it looks like Ottawa is going full reload if not mini rebuild. He wouldn't have to be the guy he was when he started here and that's good for Dion. PP point shot, 4th D minutes, he could play a steady game on the backend and not have to worry about being THE guy for creating offence from the D with the likes of Gio and Hamilton up front. Do I want Phaneuf over Brodie ~ never; I'm taking Brodie every time ~ but when Stone is part of the conversation I consider taking Dion back to offset the load and also sweeten the deal in the eyes of Ottawa when considering moving Stone in the first place.
It would be a good gamble IMO and from the proposal I played out I don't think too much more needs to be added either way for it to be a likely trade. It all depends on the next stretch of games, it will really help determine the buyers, the sellers and who is willing to go all in. Stone is all in for Calgary IMO.
