I found this episode to be disappointing. The Burnham/Tyler relationship has always felt a little wooden even though I think both actors are great. Together they remind me of a bad soap opera.
I think the Tyler character does a great job of portraying what it must be like living with PTSD. There was so much time spent on that character this episode he must have a large role in the second season.
Georgiou makes one bad-ass MU character. Appointing her captain was... interesting, I guess. If MU Lorca can kick Klingon butt I suppose they figure she will too... but its the ends justifying the means at a time of desperation. Its very unclear what the crew knows about her. Detmer always pops a wry smile when taking orders from any captain and did so again at the end of this episode... so they either don't know or think she's the right captain for the job regardless.
The story arc needs to be resolved and move on to something else. So many liberties have been taken with the story telling. Major swings in circumstances are glossed over. Stamets is near death and next episode is fully recovered. The spore network is dead but regenerates in minutes. Saru is a wimp and suddenly becomes a leader. The war is lost but not really. Lorca is brilliant and then he's a fool.
And wrapping this season up, what a waste of time all of that early Klingon stuff was. Subtitles, shallow political intrigue, it was overdone and didn't pay off. They could have halved the time spent on that.
That's the bad. The season overall has been exciting and fast paced. Some of the episodes had me on the edge of my seat. The Lorca character, save his final episode, has become my favourite anti-hero. And of course the Admiral has to make the express point PU Lorca is dead, which suggests he'll be back next season

.
Hopefully the season finale is great. I lurk on the TrekBBS and it seems my dislike of this episode puts me in the minority.
