And that would work if the writers and creators hadn't firmly placed this in the Prime OS universe. If they had placed this in the Abrams verse or some other verse of their own it would have worked.
Instead they're going to have to basically undo a lot of what they've written about to make this thing fit.

So I had problems with anyone thinking that putting a homicidal maniac in charge of anything. If the federation is now an ends justify the means it goes against the logic of the founding of the federation, and also against all logic from a Vulcan perspective.
