Spoiler!
Only Saru and Michael saw her beamed aboard and the transporter chief who was sworn to secrecy.
So my thoughts on this. This episode ended with another mind numbing attempt at a twist that just shows that to get to be a senior ranking in Star Fleet you have to be blindingly gullible and stupid.
In order to enjoy this series if you're a star trek fan, you have to literally turn off your mind.
The technology doesn't fit with the time line
The decisions that are being made are bizarre
They're going to have to undo a lot in order to make this thing work in the prime universe.
The writers had an option to follow in order to get rid of the spore drive which doesn't exist in the future, instead they've made it the ultimate fix all as they can use it to warp into the middle of the planet and map caverns. Oh and they can grow a new crop of spores in about an hour so the whole, OMH we're out of spores, that's irrelevant.
Oh and the best part of the episode is that they got through the whole Empress eats Saru's kind as she threw that out in about 2 seconds, oh and the Empress comes barging onto the Discovery demanding people kneel to her and worship her, which means that she literally didn't listen to the stuff she was saying about the Federation in previous episodes.
I really thought that the idea of bringing them back to the Prime Universe at this point was to focus on the Klingons as the ultimate threat and big bad, but instead the ultimate big bad really feels like the Empress, but more on that later.
They spent a inordinate amount of time on Tyler, and to me it made absolutely no sense, is Voq dead or isn't he? Is Tyler a Klingon or isn't he? In the ultimate brilliance of this writing crew its a resounding yes and no.
Let me put it this way, if Tyler killed the doctor and tried to kill Michael as Voq then why spend time making him feel guilty about it. But if he killed the doctor as a voluntary aspect of Voq why isn't he in the brig?
And why is Michael basically breaking his balls in a all too long heart to heart discussion about their relationship if the man she loved was Voq or Tyler or its all too confusing.
On top of that they're going to the Klingon home world to map Kronos for a strike later, but they've got the Empress playing dress up. Which brings up the question.
Why do they need her to do this is Stamets with the miraculous growth of spores can not only do the jump with his eyes closed but find a safe cavern. Again this is just nonsensical writing, because the next obvious twist from a writing crew that seems to depend on twists way too much is that the Empress/George is going to pull the trigger on a genocidal act to break the Klingon war effort because the Federation high command is desperate and are now going down the path of being just as evil as the Emperor.
Come on you all see that coming right? Its going to be the reverse mutiny from the first episode where George orders the Discovery to fire and Michael is going to resist.
Really the failure of this series isn't in the actors, for the most part except for Michelle Yeoh, these poor sods are probably getting the script and rolling their eyes and then acting their hearts out. Its not the effects, after last weeks over CGI fest, the effects looked good in this episode because they were limited. Its the hackneyed writing that basically screams, don't think about this too much, but wait, because twist.
The last 10 minutes of this episode just made a mess out of this whole thing, but the overwhelming premise throughout the whole thing has made this impossible.
Random thoughts
So George telling Sarek that Michael's plan wasn't enough to stop the Klingons gives away the next story line, is the Federation willing to commit genocide to survive? Yes, but is the crew? Its a twist.
Detmer got two lines this week, its the acceleration of her story line, maybe she'll get three next week.
The Spore drive is rapidly becoming the Keeanu Reeves device of this series, is there anything it can't do, and now it can be replenished in hours.
Stamets and Tyler's exchange was just so stupid. Tyler should have snapped his neck and said "I ain't Voq, I didn't kill your boyfriend"
The Admiral making George the Captain, come on man, why is that needed unless she's giving command to someone that's willing to destroy a planet.
