Its not the customers fault that someone made a bad decision to go to school for a program that results in a low paying job. You could get any monkey to work the line in the kitchen especially in a chain. No doubt it takes talent to be a chef. But wages in the open market work themselves out. So we should all quit tipping all together than as servers are easily replaced as well? Tipping is a perversion of the open market in how it's currently administered.

Crime was obviously an exaggerated term but unless you are springs1 and believes the server controls the kitchen the outcome of a meal that the tip is supposed to be based on is well over 50% controlled by the kitchen. So going back to the article posted where the waitress was complaining about tipout the answer is to go to full tip pool which no server would ever support.
