'Trying something new' and 'changing things up' and 'adapting' are the same things.

If you do the same thing over and over and over again, guess what? The other guy has figured out how to stop it, or make it less effective, or whatever.

There is no 'Magic Bullet' that works all the time. The NHL is about adaptation.

Look no further than Alexander Ovechkin. He was a one-trick pony for a while, he got figured out and he adapted. Its why hes one of the best players in the League.

Same with Crosby. He was a passer. Then he started shooting. He was a terrible face-off man, then he got good at it. He adapted to how others were playing him.

Our coach doesnt even change up the goddamned penalty killers.
Exactly! Gallant did it in the VGK game, noticed the change they needed to make to take the play from the Flames and use their system against them, came back in the 3rd and won. GG stuck with his system, refused to adjust and lost.

Game against the bolts, Cooper did the same thing. Combine that with an off night from Smith and that game got ugly fast. GG refused to adjust his system.

One could argue that the 4 OT losses were the same thing leading up to the blow outs and before the break, the flames were lucky that no one caught on to the system and made the in game adjustment to counter the Flames system or did and the Flames narrowly escaped with wins for 7 games in a row?

Moral is, GG refused to change systems and adjust in game while other coaches are doing exactly that, knowing GG wont adjust and the Flames simply lose the coaching game in the 3rd?

Thats the way im seeing things..
