I thought there may have been a power struggle between Tippett and Maloney at the end of his tenure in Phoenix? I don't know how close Treliving is to him but he's going to command a minimum of 3 year deal so there's no way you convince him to come in and finish the season. Gulutzan is 100% going to finish the season so fans have to accept that.
