Yeah I asked the same question last night....so you want to fire the coach/coaches, who do you replace them with?
Lindy Ruff was one answer and of course Darryl was the other.
Lindy has been to the SC once in 19 seasons, made the playoffs 10 times.
We all know about Sutter, but I doubt that Treliving wants a guy that coaches that style of game, but more notably is this club is not constructed for it. I also have to believe that Sutter may have some serious reservations about coming back to the guys that already fired him once, but who knows.
Then on top of all that....you have to give whomever you sign at least a 3 year deal. That's how it works. So whoever you bring in, is here for at least 2 seasons.
If you are going to make the change, why would you not just wait until the off season when you go from having 3 or 4 choices, to having probably well over 200? As the vast majority of upgrades are under contract right now and no one is giving them a chance to leave mid season, thats the only logical choice...no?
Some mention giving Ryan Huska a shot. OK, well for one thing you really have to be careful with your prospect base and upheaval in their development by yanking their coach away. Though its may be a seamless transition, there is a real chance you screw with their heads too. More importantly however, Huska employs the exact same system as Gulutzan from what I understand, so why would the results be drastically different?
I am not against making a change if the need exists. I am against making a change ... just because. If it's time for a new voice for this club, OK let's do that. But let's do that when we have the right guy available and ready to jump in from the start of the season.
