I don't think they trade for a 4th line energy player.
They traded for a guy with off the charts character that they thought they could get righted and back on the path to a fleet footed middle six winger.
The jury is still out, though I think the top of the middle is much less likely.
With that argument, the value of a 2nd round pick historically isn't a huge price to pay if they're right, and not an alarming price to pay if they're wrong.
