I'm not going to win an argument on this board about the coach. I get that.
But again - why are folks so adverse to placing accountability on the guys who literally have the game on their sticks?
Sure Troy Brouwer gets the finger wagged at him a lot.
But it comes to your best players. Tonight Smith wasn't' good enough. Other nights the top line hasn't been. Other nights the 2nd and 3rd lines weren't
Ultimately the players are the ones that decide games.

You keep stating this like it's a fact. It is nothing more than an opinion. Certainly, there would be times that it was ineffective - just like any other measure. But you state it like it is never useful, that it can't serve a purpose. And that's ridiculous.
More importantly though, it isn't necessarily about the timeout. It isn't about whether they are effective. It's about
doing something. It's about showing your team that you are fighting for them that you have their backs.
As for putting some onus on the players - absolutely they need to be held accountable. And I think there is plenty of that going on. But the coaching issues are a constant. And they are something that can actually be dealt with. Also, maybe we need a little more holding the players responsible
by the coaches.
