Well, the lines didn't default because it still shows a difference in ice time distribution for his forwards. Just try again
One safety measure you can try, not sure it will help but does save me from correcting errors from game to game
Roster - select
Copy All Rosters
Lines - select
Copy All Lines
You must save the rosters first or else the lines will have errors
This defaults every games lineup to the current one. What this allows is say you save the rosters and lineups.... but you want to experiment with this game. Make your changes (or start your backup) and then just save the file that you email the league. After the game and you download the new file for the next game you will have your default roster and starter back in your lineup
