Yeah, it was better when they had the U-Turn board after the completion of the first Detour so teams who were targeted for a U-Turn could hustle to make sure they wouldn't get U-Turned.

They should have had the U-Turn board at the beer baths because there was really no reason for them to even go there.

I'm actually surprised none of the teams on the later flight tried to make a deal with any of the teams on the earlier one to get them to U-Turn one of the other teams on the later flight. Maybe they did and no one would agree to do it.
