Luck will balance out. The Flames have shown plenty to show that they can compete (and more) with anyone.

More killer instinct would be good, but that doesn't always overcome bad luck.
What's really been unlucky about the PP?

I subscribe to the philosophy that you make your own luck. You play good, and luck will work in your favour. You don't play so good, and bad luck can be more frequent.

The Flames PP, if you want to call it that, is hard to acknowledge because despite having an extra player on the ice, they never look like they are a man up. They have terrible puck poise, and fold up like a cheap tent under any pressure. They cannot control the puck, or cycle it to save their lives.

Puck movement is the fundamental of the PP, and they're incapable of that. Which is bizarre, because when it's even strength, they're pretty good at doing that when they're settled in the zone. But that's the big issue with the PP I suppose, they never get settled despite having an extra man. They box themselves in, which leads to a turnover that the opposing team clearing the puck unharassed. And then the Flames have difficulty gaining back the zone.

When a teams offense looks tremendously better on even strength than with the man advantage, then two things are happen. One, the players are overthinking, and two, the structure is broken. How often does this team sustain pressure on the PP? Never. You can't have luck if you don't even set yourself up for it.
