Ferland is having a fantastic year by his standards, I don't have much issues with him.
Monahan, despite being a consistent goal scorer, just lacks that top end impact I would like from a #1C. Someone who can create offense on their own, as well create turnovers defensively. He's pretty quiet when he isn't being a trigger man.
Which is why I feel ultimately, Bennett needs to become the #1C for this team to reach it's top potential. His style of play will complements it. But with how his development has slowed down, it's not looking realistic at this point that Bennett will be able to fulfill that role. Bennett needs to be able to run a line by himself, and get results despite whom his linemates may be.
But perhaps if Bennett ever did get time to play with Gaudreau and develop chemistry, it could end up being as good as I fantaize it could be.
