VGK ( and WPG ) are quite good at attacking with speed and backing CGY off. Everything is up the boards for CGY. It leads to a choppy, disjointed grinding style of offense.

Backlund rush aside, absolutely this. Moving up the middle of the ice is risky - so the Flames tend to drive it wide. It results in poor quality shots, albeit a decent quantity of them. It’s one of the big reasons why we struggle to score despite solid efforts. It’s playing hard, dumb hockey.
