It does work. It's not that crazy. That line-up doesn't even factor in Andersson or Fox on cheaper deals, but yes - does require 1 of Rittich/Parsons/Gillies being a starting goalie. |
I agree it works and those are some pretty conservative numbers.
Tkachuk making more than Gaudreau and Giordano likely doesn't happen. And there's 0 chance Ferland makes 5M. It would take an exceptional end of the season for Jankowski to make 3M, but likely will get closer to Ferland's 1.75M bridge contract. Bennett's next contract would also require a significant improvement next year.
The difference there would allow the Flames to get a 23rd person on a roster spot and a starting goalie if needed.
Even the cap ceiling is realtively conservative (but probably a good bet) given Bettman's BoG talk. He said that the ceiling could be as high as 82M next year.
