I actually like what they are doing with him. He's small and he's not a Gaudreau or Kucherov. He's proven himself at the AHL level, the next step for him is to get a taste of the NHL in small sample sizes to get a feel for the size, pace and strength of the league. If he can handle and become accustomed to that, he will get his opportunities. He's at that point where he is audition ready, but more AHL time won't hurt him.
What I saw from Mangiapane was a guy who wasn't hurting the team, but he wasn't overly assertive and making things happen for himself. He kind of coasted a bit. Seems like a guy who still needs to get used to the NHL, the highest minute 4th line in the league seems like a decent place.
