Very much this.
It would be normal to have a meeting with the top staff and Brown after something like this breaks out. Judging from the timeline, I'm guessing the things Brown said in private about the situation did not go down well with the staff.
Of course it's also possible Brown is just a s***head who attracts zero loyalty from the people around him.
