Some like Monahan walk right in and look high level, others like Pavel Datsyuk for example did not become a superstar the minute they started playing pro hockey. Bennett has an absolutely great package, he is physical, skates well, has a very good shot, good agility, and a good motor. His development road will be a player that will take a bit more time but he will put it together. Those same people who want to include him in a trade for Hoffman are the same posters that if that happened would bitching we got a 25G aging winger for a gritty 70 point centre 4 years from now. Saying he has a "Yakupovian trajectory" is just ridiculous, one is a physical player who brings more than just pure finesse like the other and even if he never becomes a top line C will still be a gritty two way C.
And todays Bennett guys could be mad in 4 years when he keeps getting worse and we didn’t trade him when he had a little value. That point can go both ways. The problem with Bennett isnt that he isnt a big producer yet, its that every year he’s regressing. If he was showing any kind of progress then I’d agree with you but he absolutely is not.

That said, again, I dont think he gets traded at this point simply because his value is so low. Better off hoping a light turns on than getting a minimal return.
