You would think fans of a team that watched Backlund take time to develop would understand patience but just like many wanted to run him out of town early the same thing is happening with Bennett. Thankfully the Flames organization will do no such thing because their pro personnel are still very high on Bennett's skillset unlike a bunch of armchair amateurs that expect every player to instantly be a star and have no comprehension that players develop at different time periods. Some like Monahan walk right in and look high level, others like Pavel Datsyuk for example did not become a superstar the minute they started playing pro hockey. Bennett has an absolutely great package, he is physical, skates well, has a very good shot, good agility, and a good motor. His development road will be a player that will take a bit more time but he will put it together. Those same people who want to include him in a trade for Hoffman are the same posters that if that happened would bitching we got a 25G aging winger for a gritty 70 point centre 4 years from now. Saying he has a "Yakupovian trajectory" is just ridiculous, one is a physical player who brings more than just pure finesse like the other and even if he never becomes a top line C will still be a gritty two way C.
