Swampy Times
DC-The New Jersey Devils played a hard fought game tonight but came up just alittle short with a 3-2 OTL to the Capitals. The Devils showed a lot of heart tonight by coming back from a 2-0 deficit with just under 12 minutes remaining in the third period. Mark Recchi scored his 3rd goal in the last 2 games while Teemu Selanne notched his first goal as a Devil as he tied the game with just 49 seconds remaining in the 3rd period. However, Markus Naslund scored just 7 seconds into overtime to give the Caps the victory. The Devils penalty killing was solid tonight killing off all 7 Capital powerplays but the powerplay wasn't very good going 0-5. The Devils remain in a tie for 29th place with the Penguins who managed a 3-3 with the Flyers. The Devils now have points in 3 of their last 4 games and they look to continue their charge up the standings on Thursday as they host the Thrashers. The Devils now sit 7 points behind the Bruins for the last playoff spot in the Gretzky Conference.
