Xbox 360 CPU Getting Upgraded
CPU improvements should cool it down.

That warm machine you've been playing GRAW on is going to run a little cooler in the future. A release from Chartered Semiconductors details a deal between Microsoft and Chartered for a 65-nanometer manufacturing agreement for the Xbox 360 CPU. The chip production for the CPU is slated to begin in first quarter 2007 and the tech-heavy release is a little tough to digest. Eventually, this change will help Microsoft lessen production costs for the unit, in addition to having the system run a little cooler. In other words, Xbox 360's of the future are going to be fitter, happier and more productive. However, before everyone starts bouncing off of their "jump to conclusions" mats, keep in mind that technical revisions happen frequently with consoles. While this is one of the first publicized changes to the Xbox 360 - it won't be the last. Just like Sony's PS2 went through numerous changes, Microsoft's Xbox 360 will, and it's a safe bet we'll see revisions to the PS3 at some point. It happens, it's a part of the industry.
