I want to add something kind of funny that goes along with the Kelso "does that detect any kind of smoke?" idiot line from That 70's show. Our smoke alarms are super sensitive. The toaster sets it off on its lowest setting. Super annoying. But I've blown pot smoke directly into it and had nothing happen. Not sure why.
Won't argue that but the flip side is pot smoke has a much stronger odor than tobacco smoke meaning most people will smell it from much further away, or at the same distance it will be much stronger. If the arguement for set backs from public spaces for pot smoking is based on smell then those distances may need to be larger than for tobacco.
