IMO Tavares won't hit free agency. He seems to want to stay. The arena announcements included him in a fairly major way. My first thought about this was that Barzal made losing Tavares a little more palatable for the Isles. But I actually think it works more in their favour. Tavares could see the team moving in a positive direction.
And when was the last time a guy like him (or even close) actually made it to unlimited free agency?
